Everyone gets excited about "doors" opening in their lives. Usually this refers to opportunities being presented and our ability to walk through those "doors" into something better than what we have now. But, while open doors are great to celebrate, we often overlook the power of closed doors. There is often a sense of sadness when a door closes, when something ends that we once enjoyed. But sometimes, as you may have heard before, a new door cannot open until another door has closed. Have you ever gone into a building and had to walk through consecutive sets of doors? Ever notice that the more secure the building the more secure the doors? Think about it. If you walk into a department store both sets of doors can be open at the same time with no problem but, walk into a large bank or highly secured building and one set of doors must be securely closed before the next set will open. That's because what lies behind those doors is precious and worth protecting. So, the next time a door closes and you feel down, consider that maybe that area of your life is extra precious and worth protecting. So much so that both doors can't be open at the same time. Next time, instead of longingly staring at the closed doors and wishing they would open again, turn around and await the opening of the next set of doors, I promise they are not too far behind.
