Someone once told me that I act like I don’t have a care in the world. Another person told me that when he sees me I’m always smiling. Neither of them had any idea how long it has taken me to get to a place in my life where I have faith that everything will work out for my good. For many years I worried about EVERYTHING. I would think about every possible way that something could go wrong and prepare a plan for how I would handle each scenario and, in hindsight, I recognize that over 90% of those possible problems never happened. I’d like to tell you that I never worry about anything. I’d like to say that as I share with you advice and tips on how to change your thinking mine is perfectly positive all the time. But, the truth is simple, I still struggle with negative thinking, doubt, and worry just like you, even though I know better. There are still days when I have to will myself into operating with a smile and positive outlook on life. There are days when I look at where my life is now, compare it to where I wanted to be, and feel disappointment for the things I have not yet accomplished. The difference between me and many others is that I’ve learned the value allowing myself a few moments of despair then shaking it off, straightening up, and pressing on. Our thoughts and the words we speak have power and what we choose to spend our time contemplating on eventually comes to pass. So, instead of waking up and saying “this is going to be one of those days” wake up and say “this is a great day and I choose to be happy today”. It may be hard to do at first but if you keep at it every day eventually your life catches up with it the words you speak and you'll want to share the experience with others too.
